Started building log homes in 1979 after taking a 2 month
hands on course at the Mackie School of Log Building near Prince
George, BC. Previous to that experienced in legal, construction,
topographic and highways surveying and drafting. Really loved
fitting logs though so 4 years of building log houses and
furniture before getting a technical drafting certicate back in
Prince George at the College of New Caledonia in 1985. Started
Kaila Log Building. Design in fall of 1985. The name was
changed to Kaila Drafting Design in 1988 after moving to
Enderby. Kaila died in 1988 after putting up with living in a lot
of different places throughout B.C. Including Dease Lake,
Invermere, Hope, Chilliwack, Peachland, Prince George, Seymour
Arm, Enderby (well - half way to Mabel Lake), He was a good
friend of mine and was better looking than me so he gets to grace
the Home Page and associated glory. I'm sure he thinks its a
howl. I built him a log doghouse at one time but that's another
story. 16 years experience in the handcrafted log home industry. 8
years experience hands on log home building always striving to
maintain high quality (as opposed to high quantity) work. At that
time, designing log homes part time as well. In 1991 switched to
full-time computer-aided drafting as a home based business
specializing in log homes but also providing site and road
design. Now in 1998, a combined 24 years experience in home,
road, site construction and design.
